Paladin
่้จๅฃซ ยท Paladin โ A warrior of light blessed by divine grace
The paladin is a holy warrior class fighting for light and justice with divine blessing, a hybrid combining knightly combat with priestly holy magic. Serving gods of light, justice, or war, paladins use sword and divine magic to defeat undead and demons while healing allies. The historical archetype is Charlemagne's Twelve Peers (paladins), whose deeds are recorded in the medieval epic Song of Roland. D&D's Paladin class established the modern fantasy standard model, with the moral tension of losing divine favor and becoming a 'fallen paladin' for breaking sacred vows being its core appeal.
Origin
A class born from the fusion of medieval knighthood and the concept of Christian holy war. Crusader knights are the historical archetype, and the class was established as an independent profession in TTRPGs like D&D.
Features
- Holy magic: healing, purification, exorcism, and light-element attacks
- Divine grace enhancing defense and status ailment resistance
- Aura skills that grant buffs to nearby party members
- Oath system: stat penalties for actions that violate one's creed
Usage
All-purpose role combining melee DPS, tanking, and healing. Key to party stability and a hard counter to undead and demons.
Weakness
All abilities one step below specialized classes. Breaking an oath collapses the class identity.
