Corinthian Helmet

Iconic full-face helmet of ancient Greece

The Corinthian helmet is the most iconic helmet of ancient Greece, forged from a single sheet of bronze with cheek guards and a nose guard that almost completely enclose the face. Essential equipment for the hoplite heavy infantry and frequently depicted on statues of Athena, it was used from the 8th to 5th century BC. When not in combat, it was characteristically pushed up onto the forehead — a pose familiar from the film 300.
