The highest-tier intellectual class with mastery over all fields including magic, combat, history, and science. Not a specialist in any one area, but the extreme of the generalist who knows everything. A single word of advice from a sage can change the fate of a kingdom, and having one sage in a demon lord subjugation party completely transforms the strategy.
Origin
The ancient Greek philosophers (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle) and Eastern sages (Confucius, Laozi) are the archetypes of the fantasy sage. The synthesis of magic and wisdom.

A class that divines events in the future, past, and present through divination. They receive prophecies through various mediums โ constellations, tarot, crystal balls, bones, entrails, and dreams. Prophecies always come to pass, but misinterpretation often causes disaster โ the paradox of prophecy.
